The complexity of watch and pocket watch movements are also
getting more involved with new designs and ideas being used that go beyond the
simple approach of having hands moving around a clock face. It seems to be a
challenge within the watch making industry to see who can make the more complex
movements and one such watch is the Harry
Winston Opus 12.
Unlike your ordinary watch or silver pocket watch, the Opus
12 doesn’t feature hands but over 600 parts, 80 jewels, 2 barrels and 24 hands
which spin to indicate the current time. The
markers around the watch face flip round to show the other side which is
a metallic blue finish and this is how the time is read. Have a look at this
fancy video showing off the concept.
Since only 120 of these watches are being made so they
really are only going to be for the elite few that are going to be able to
afford the ridiculously high price tag. You can’t even buy it off the official Harvey
Winston website, you have to request an appointment so that means
you and I definitely won’t be able to afford it!
