Clocks Go Back - Don't Forget Your Pocket Watch

Pocket watches need to be updated
As British Summertime officially ends this weekend, the clocks go back and we are immediately surrounded by the dark nights of winter and cosy nights in. As technology advances most electronic devices will automatically update to the new time and give you an extra hour in bed. Worth making sure that the computers have changed and checking the alarm clocks for Monday.

The critical point is to remember that wristwatches and even pendant watches are not automatically updated. Make sure you know how to reset the hands otherwise you will wondering where everyone is on Monday when you are in the office an hour earlier than you need to be.

Some people would disagree on the reasoning behind the clocks going forward and backwards, but we cannot change this so lets be prepared this weekend. Enjoy Halloween and remember the witching hour still only happens once on Halloween and if your silver pocket watch has been set to the correct time you'll be prepared for midnight at the right time.

Some More Movie Without Pocket Watches

As we started thinking of movie themes we just couldn't resist expanding on this theme as time travel is not worth even discussing without the mention of Star Wars. We would like to honour those who can manage a ship, supervise the journey through space and visit all the different dimensions and all without the need for a gold or silver pocket watch. We think it's great that they can beam people up into the ship, or 'transport' them across galaxies without ever saying " I think we are a few minutes late" or maybe they can guess the time and after all the years in space a few minutes isn't going to hurt anyone. Although I think Captain Kirk would look great with a silver pocket watch to show all his years of service - don't you?

Anyone Spot Pendant Watches In These Movies

As well as music and song titles time is also mentioned alot in the movies and TV.  Hollywood has realised our fasination with time, either travelling back in time or the theory of time itself (anyone recall Star Trek). The thought of time travel really has captured our imaginations, so as we begun our theme for song titles it was only a fitting tribute to salute Hollywood and some of those great movies around time. As you are watching try and spot if any of the leading ladies are wearing necklaces or even pendant watches.

Time Travel at it's best!
We thought of a few, along with Dirty Dancing 'Time of their life' and the 2009 release of The Time Travellers Wife - and not continuing with the theme of space - we have Galaxy Quest.

One of the main ones we just couldn't not include here is the 80's hits Back to the Future. An absolute classic from the 80's. I think just about everyone wanted a DeLorean that could travel through time. The trilogy focused about Marty McFly and the scientist Doc. In the first Back to the Future, there were alot of references to time and even it was infact the clock tower that was the focal point for getting back to the future. Not an easy task when only enough enery generated from a lightening strike would be sufficient. An interesting trilogy which really made you wonder what would've happened if Doc didn't connect the wires in time.

Introducing the New Mini Site for Pocket Watches

All of us at The Greenwich Pocket Watch Company share a passionate interest in the industry of gifts, weddings and not forgetting the corporate world. The elegant silver pocket watch makes a fantastic present for the Best Man or Father of the Bride and a gold pocket watch can make a memorable retirement or corporate award gift.

For the ladies who deserve an extra special gift the pendant watches are a great choice. We really feel that pocket watches make an elegant and thoughtful gift. So we have decided to create this blog to promote pocket watches as gifts whilst also exploring some fun stuff like the history of the pocket watch or how time is referred to in many areas of our lives from songs, films, TV to meetings and events.

If you would like to take a look at the potential of pocket watches as a gift, or to see what we are about then take a look at The Greenwich Pocket Watch Company.
