Get Me To The Church On Time - Female Roles

As a follow up to our male wedding party roles last week where we covered everything from making sure the Best Man has a pocket watch to ensure he gets the Groom to the church on time to the role of the father of the Bride. Now it’s time for the ladies.

Mother of the Bride
Traditionally it is the Bride’s mother who has one of the biggest roles in the wedding and was originally in change of all aspects of a wedding. This has changed in more recent years though with many couples taking on the wedding preparation themselves. One tradition that has continued though is that it’s the Mother of the Brides role to help the Bride with her wedding dress.

Mother of the Groom
As with the Father of the Groom, the Grooms mother doesn’t have any specific duties as such within the roles of a wedding. It is becoming common for the Bride and Groom to ask for help with a particular aspect of the wedding such as flowers.

Chief Bridesmaid
Traditionally unmarried, this role is to help the Bride with everything with last minute arrangements for hair makeup and bouquets before arriving at the ceremony. Generally, the Chief Bridesmaid is to the Bride what the Best Man is to the Groom and is there to offer support before, during and after her big day,

Flower Girl
The Flower Girl is a young girl that walks down the aisle before the Bride and usually scatters petals on the floor.
